Everything You Need to Know About Rhode

Now, I’m not someone who jumps on every celebrity brand release. Aside from Rihanna’s Fenty Beauty launch (which was the moment), I don’t run when a celeb announces their own makeup or skincare line. Let’s be real—skincare and makeup have become the new celebrity perfume. Remember when every celeb had their own fragrance? Even Justin Bieber had one… and it was perfume, not cologne.

So, when Hailey Bieber announced Rhode, I wasn’t rushing to buy, but I was intrigued. I wanted to see if it was really about skincare or just another cash grab. First off, I have to say—her marketing slaps. Every campaign has been chef’s kiss, and Hailey, if you ever read this, sis, I’d love to be on your marketing team. But we’re not here for that deep dive; we’re here to talk about the products.

Rhode describes itself as a “curated line of skincare essentials,” formulated for all skin types with high-performance ingredients to nourish your skin barrier over time.

I’ve tried (almost) everything from the brand, minus a few limited edition lip peptides and the lip shape. So, let’s get into it.

Pineapple Refresh – £30

Description: A balm-to-lather daily cleanser with polyglutamic acid (PGA), green tea extract, and pineapple enzyme to cleanse, soften, and brighten skin.

At first, I wasn’t sure about this cleanser, but turns out I was just using it wrong—LOL. It really needs water to transform from balm to lather. I thought it could work as a first cleanse to remove makeup, but nah, it’s better as an everyday face wash. It’s non-stripping, makes my skin feel fresh, and after regular use, my skin looks brighter. That being said, I don’t believe in splurging on cleansers—Cerave does the job just fine—so I tend to save my budget for serums, moisturizers, and treatments.

Glazing Milk – £32

Description: A lightweight, nutrient-rich essence that strengthens the skin barrier and delivers luminous hydration.

Now this is where Hailey ate. I’ve been using it for a year, and it’s one of my holy grails. Super hydrating, perfect for makeup prep, and an absolute lifesaver in winter when my skin gets extra dry. If you love the Laneige Cream Skin Toner, you need to try this. If I had to recommend just one Rhode product, it’s this one. Worth every penny.

Peptide Glazing Fluid – £32

Description: A lightweight, gel serum that hydrates, plumps, and supports a healthy skin barrier.

I’m 50/50 on this one. It’s a solid product with hyaluronic acid and niacinamide—two must-have ingredients—but I’m not wowed. For £32, I expected more. If you prefer a minimal skincare routine, this could be a good all-in-one step, but personally, I get my hyaluronic acid and niacinamide separately from The Inkey List for half the price. So… yeah. It’s good, but compared to the Glazing Milk? Meh.

Barrier Restore Cream – £32

Description: A rich yet lightweight moisturizer designed to soothe and support the skin barrier.

It’s fine, but I don’t love it. I went through a phase of testing different moisturizers, and I didn’t find myself reaching for this one. It’s not bad, but for £32, I want to be wowed, and this just isn’t doing that for me. If it works for you, great! But I wouldn’t repurchase.

Barrier Butter – £38

Description: An intensive overnight moisture balm that strengthens the skin barrier and seals in hydration for up to 24 hours.

NOW THIS! The newest addition to the Rhode lineup, and let me tell you—it’s spectacular. I never thought I’d find another occlusive I’d reach for as much as the Cerave Healing Ointment, but here we are. This stuff delivers that true glazed donut look. It’s thick, but a little goes a long way. I haven’t tried it on my body yet (Rhode’s UK shipping fees aren’t letting me be great), but if the Sephora rumors are true and I can grab it in-store, best believe I’ll be slathering this all over.

Peptide Lip Treatment – £18

Description: A nourishing lip treatment that hydrates and visibly plumps, leaving lips glossy and soft.

This was my first Rhode purchase, and I got the passionfruit scent (limited edition and SO good). One thing about Rhode—the scents always hit. That unscented one, though? No. We need to fix that because it does have a smell, and I don’t like it.

A lot of people have complained about a grainy texture, but I’ve never experienced that, and I’ve gone through eight of these. As someone with dry lips who’s also a serial lip-picker (is that a thing?), this keeps my lips soft and actually does something, unlike Vaseline. My only complaint? You can’t eat or drink with it on without it wiping away, so constant reapplication is needed. But overall, I really like it, and the phone cases? Aesthetic on point.

Pocket Blush – £24

Description: A buildable, satin-finish blush that melts into the skin and lasts all day.

Rhode’s makeup releases definitely follow Hailey’s signature style—minimal, your skin but better, very soft girl aesthetic (side note: is that a play on soft life? We need to discuss). The blush is blendable, glowy, and works with both liquid and powder products. Toasted Teddy is the shade for my Black girlies if you want that bronzing-blush effect. That being said, I do wish there were more shades for deeper skin tones.

Final Thoughts

Like this is some school essay conclusion—Rhode is actually a really solid skincare brand. As they branch into makeup, there might be some trial and error, but overall, the brand delivers. If you want to try just a few products, my must-haves are:

Glazing Milk
Barrier Butter
Peptide Lip Treatment

These are Rhode’s holy grail products, IMO. If you’re thinking of splurging, start here.

Would you try Rhode? Or if you already have, what’s your favorite product? Spill in the comments! 💬✨
